I've included the disappearing rolls story within the directions (in italics). If you're making the rolls and don't want to do the vanishing buns story, just ignore the text in italics.
Mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a separate small bowl.
Unroll the crescent dough and separate into the triangles (along the dough perforations).
Next, hold up a white marshmallow. Say: We’re going to make disappearing ghosts (the marshmallows represent the ghost).
Roll the marshmallow in butter and then in the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Say: Let’s put the magic disappearing dust on the ghosts!
Place the marshmallow onto a dough triangle near the larger end. Wrap each side of the dough up and over the marshmallow. Say: The ghost flies into the cave.
Roll the dough in your hands until all of the marshmallow is covered and sealed. (Make sure the marshmallow is completely covered and any creases are pinched together and smoothed over or the marshmallow will expand out and bubble over.)
Dip the rolled dough in butter and then dip in the cinnamon/sugar mixture and place in the greased muffin tin. Say: Now the ghost hides in the cave!
Repeat until all of the dough has been used.
Bake for 13-15 minutes.
Remove from oven and brush lightly with butter and sprinkle with Halloween sprinkles. (OPTIONAL)
Allow to cool. Then, say a magic word (Hocus Pocus or Bippity Boppity Boo) and announce: Now the ghost has disappeared! Cut open the rolls to see that the cave is empty and the ghost marshmallow is gone!
Eat and enjoy!
Notes
You can also use pumpkin pie spice and sugar if you want a fall flavor! If you want to make it more fun for kids, use a baking pen like this to let kids draw faces on their marshmallow ghosts before using the in the vanishing rolls recipes and telling the disappearing rolls story.
