Dice Christmas Gift Exchange Game

This holiday dice games is a fun alternative to a traditional White Elephant game, Dirty Santa holiday game or fun Christmas Eve game ideas.

  • 1 Dice
  • Wrapped Gifts

Instructions

  • Party guests should each bring a small wrapped gift to exchange at the Christmas party. (TIP: Set a minimum price for the gifts on the party invitation.)
  • Gather the gifts and then redistribute them, so that everyone is holding a wrapped gift at the beginning of the game.
  • Have the first person roll a dice and then follow the rules on the dice.
    DICE RULES:
    Roll a 1: Switch gifts with the person on your left. (Don't unwrap the gifts!)
    Roll a 2: Steal a gift from anyone else (and give them your gift).
    Roll a 3: Steal a gift and unwrap it.
    Roll a 4: Everyone passes their gifts to right.
    Roll a 5: Steal a gift from anyone, unwrap it and then decide if you want to keep it or give it back to the original person.
    Roll a 6: Pick 2 people to swap a gift (excluding yourself).
  • The next person then rolls the dice and follows the dice rules. Keep going around the table until everyone has rolled. At the end of the game, everyone unwraps their gift and gets to keep that gift.

Notes

GAME TIP: If you. have a smaller group (less than 10 people), you may want to have everyone roll at least twice (or, 2 rounds of rolling) so that the Christmas gift prizes get a chance to get really mixed up.
We play where, unless the directions say, no one opens their gift until the end of the game. (You will have some players with gifts opened and some unopened.) I think this way adds an extra level of fun and surprise to the game play.
I also put 1 hour as the game time, but it will vary based on how many people you have playing the game.
With fewer people, it will take a lot less time. With a large group, it will take longer.
If you have a large group, you may also want to use two dice and create more rules for rolls 1 - 12.
