Important Recipe Note About Coloring Chocolate
If you can’t find (or don’t want to use) chocolate candy melts, you can color white chocolate.
However, you have to be careful what coloring you use because I’ve had chocolate “seize up” (or turns into this grainy lump) when I’ve used regular food coloring.
I don’t recommend using regular food coloring or any water based coloring to color white chocolate. Instead, use a gel based color / oil-based food coloring or powder based color, or just buy the white chocolate (vanilla) melts that are already colored (which is what I did).
My Favorite Popped Popcorn Recipe
My favorite popcorn for this recipe is to make popcorn the old-fashioned way on the stove top.
Anytime I have a popcorn recipe, I make it this way (instead of microwaving popcorn or buying popcorn) because I think it’s a more flavorful popcorn.
I also salt and lightly butter my popcorn before adding the chocolate candy coating.

Free Printable Recipe Card for Red, White And Blue Olympics Party Popcorn
We served this fun party snack in regular old brown lunch bags and party guests loved it!
I rolled down the tops of the bags half way and then layered the popcorn in each bag in red-white-blue rows.
This made it an easy portable party snack that guest could eat while walking around the party.
