Saint Patricks Day DIY Project (Leprechaun Hat Crafts For Preschoolers And Up!)
I love this leprechaun gnome craft because it’s not only a fun leprechaun art craft, but it also allows preschool or toddler ages to practice colors with the rainbow hair coming from the hat and for the green leprechaun top hat! (You can even add an orange leprechaun beard under the hat!)
And, bonus points for cuteness for the leprechaun hat name for each child on it!
It’s also a fun St Patrick’s day painting craft because the kids get to have fun finger painting the hat (which is a great way to practice fine motor skills)!
ST. PADDY’S DAY CRAFT TIPS: These are our favorite washable finger paints. Grab these cheap art smocks if you’re doing this as a group craft with little ones.
I happen to think these fun hats are way cuter than those popsicle sticks leprechaun hats going around and more fun than just a plain leprechaun hat coloring page! (And, don’t worry about how to draw a leprechaun hat. We have super simple instructions below!)

- Glue the glitter shamrock on the right side of the black strip.
- Write the child’s name on the hat with black marker.
Leprechaun Hat Craft For Preschoolers Craft and Book Pairing: St. Patrick’s Day Books for Kids
What do leprechauns do? They’re super silly, that’s what! At least that’s what we find out in That’s What Leprechauns Do by Eve Bunting, which is a cute book to go with our cute craft!
The leprechauns in the book dig up their pot of gold in order to bury it at the end of the rainbow. However, as the three little ones hurry along, they stop to perform some funny and mischievous pranks along the way.
Will the leprechauns make it in time to bury the gold before the rainbow disappears? Better read it to find out!
Such a fun book to pair with paper leprechaun hat craft.
