Reindeer Games FAQs

What is the reindeer poop paper plate game?

The reindeer poop game is a melted chocolate bar poo game where you identify the melted chocolate candies.

(This is not a reindeer poop eating race or minute to win it Christmas games!)

Instead, holiday party guests try to identify what the reindeer ate by observing the chocolate poo and even tasting it to see if they can identify what Rudolph ate.

The game player who guesses the most candy bars correctly, wins the poo game.

(And you can give some fun reindeer-themed prizes — see below.)

This is one of those super easy holiday games and best family holiday games that everyone loves.

If you’re looking for a hilarious group party game to get everyone laughing (or a Christmas ice breaker game), this is a good game for that.

Good Candy Bars for the Reindeer Poo Game

PARTY GAME TIP: When preparing the reindeer game, be sure to use well-known candy bars!

Visit nearby candy stores for your chocolate bars and candy chocolates, but be sure that they’re well known candies that everyone will recognize!

(Don’t get some exotic chocolate bar that no one has ever heard of. You want chocolate players can guess.)

GAME SETUP TIP: You will also want to keep track of the candy bars you are melting! Some of them are hard to recognize once you have heated them and they are melted.

  • Snickers
  • Milky Way
  • Hershey’s Milk Chocolate
  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  • Three Musketeers
  • KitKat
  • Twix
  • Butterfinger
  • Baby Ruth
  • Almond Joy
  • Mounds
  • Crunch
  • 100 Grand
  • Toblerone
  • Payday
  • Heath Bar
  • York Peppermint Patty

IMPORTANT: If you are using Hershey kisses they will not melt completely! You will need to heat them for a few seconds and then smash them down with another piece of parchment or wax paper to make them flat and harder to recognize.

Alternate Game Play For Younger Players

To make this game easier, especially if you have younger kids playing, you can play this as a match the candy bar game.

Simply list out the names of all the candy bars used and add in some other random chocolate bars names, too. (Or line up the candy bars used, in their wrappers.)

Then, players can try to match the wrapped candy bar to the melted candy bar.

You can even time it for a fun Christmas Minute To Win It Game and see who can do it fastest.

How to Play the Reindeer Poo Party Game

We named our game What Did Rudolph Reindeer Eat? with the game rules of having to identify what kind of candy bar Rudolph ate.

This is one of those party games to play during the holidays that will have everyone laughing hysterically! (I mean, poo is always funny.)

It’s also a great group ice breaker game, office holiday games, or reindeer poop paper plate game team building game for that reason!

Equipment

  • Pens or pencils
  • Paper for each guest

Ingredients

  • 5-10 different kinds of chocolate candy bars or chocolates that people will recognize we used mini chocolate bars
  • Paper plates
  • Parchment paper
  • Black marker

Instructions

  • Cut squares of parchment paper to match the number of candy bars.
  • Unwrap each candy bar and place one on each parchment paper square. TIP: If you are using full sized candy bars, you will just need a small piece. (Don't melt the entire candy bar!)
  • One at a time, heat each candy bar on the parchment paper in the microwave (just for a few seconds!). You may have to smash them down a little to make them harder to recognize. Set aside and allow them to cool.
  • At the top of each paper plate, write What Did Rudolph Eat? and number each plate.
  • Place one melted candy bar on each plate. (Again, keep track of which candy bar is on which numbered plate so you have the answers at the end of the game.)

TO PLAY THE GUESS THE REINDEER POO GAME

  • Have players sit around a table where they can easily write and pass plates. Give each player a piece of paper and pen.
  • Start by explaining that Rudolph has an upset stomach and it's their job to help figure out what he ate by examining his reindeer poop. Tell them they can look at the poo from the reindeer, sniff the reindeer poo and even break off a tiny piece to taste it.*
  • Once they have examined that candy bar on paper plate, they write their guess of that paper plate number on their paper. (For example, if the melted candy bar was on paper plate 1 they would write 1. Milky Way.)
  • They pass the plate to the person on their left and then get a new plate. Game play continues until every party guest has guessed all the reindeer poo on plates and written their answers on the paper.
  • Host then holds up each paper plate and announces the candy bar on the numbered paper plate.
  • The guest with the most correct candy bar guesses wins. Have a small prize to give to the winner! (See the post of funny prize ideas!)

Notes

*Some people play the guess the candy bar game as no tasting allowed. You can play that way, too. If you allow tasting, you will want to make the melted candy bar pieces larger.
TIP 1: To make this easier (especially if you have younger kids playing), you can play this as a match the candy bar game. Simply list out the names of all the candy bars used and add in some other random chocolate bars names, too.
TIP 2: You will also want to keep track of the candy bars you are melting! Some of them are hard to recognize once you have heated them and they are melted.
TIP 3: IMPORTANT: If you are using Hershey kisses they will not melt completely! You will need to heat them for a few seconds and then smash them down with another piece of parchment or wax paper to make them flat and harder to recognize.

Can you suggest some candy bars that work well for this? I’ve got:
Reese’s PB Cup; Peppermint Patty; Milky Way; Kisses, Nestle’s Crunch

This looks like so much fun. Thank you.

Hi Betty, regular Hershey’s bars are good ones and 3 Muskateers. Be aware though, the Hershey’s Kisses don’t melt very well, so you’ll have to smash them down. (I ended up using 3 of them closed together and smashed them down). Have fun!
